Minister targets climate change adaptation plan

It is of critical importance for the country to invest in feed production and set up fodder banks in all areas affected by the drought to counter ballooning livestock feed prices, says Agriculture Minister Senzeni Zokwana.
Addressing a news conference on Friday, after a meeting between ministers and provincial MECs for agriculture, he said investment in feed production would be concentrated in areas not affected by drought and those with extensive irrigation schemes.
He said that the meeting with the provincial MECs had now given a clear picture of the negative impact of the drought on crop production, livestock, agro-processing, and infrastructure and food security in all affected provinces.
