Once-in-a-lifetime moment’ as leopard filmed casually strolling through Mpumalanga lodge restaurant

A leopard casually strolled through a dining area of a well-known lodge in Mpumalanga, the video footage of which caused much social media excitement.
According to the Singita Ebony lodge in the Sabi Sand game reserve in Hazyview, one of their guests filmed and shared a once-in-a-lifetime moment on Sunday, August 30.
The lodge confirmed that the same leopard was seen earlier, stalking a bushbuck in the riverbed in front of the lodge, before being detected by a troop of vervet monkeys which probably raised the alarm.
The big cat proceeded to walk calmly across the deck area and swiftly away from the lodge to remain out of sight.
The lodge assured patrons that there was no danger posed by the leopard at any stage, and that they were quite privileged to witness such a sight.
The lodge said that they strongly discouraged close wildlife encounters at any time, and have strict safety protocols in place for staff and guests should this occur naturally, as was the case with leopard.
“We are committed to managing all situations responsibly and brief and debrief guests extensively on safety around wildlife encounters at the lodge,” said public relations officer for Singita Ebony lodge Lisa Carey .
