A massive cyclone slammed into the Arabian Peninsula killing 13 people in Yeman and Oman and dumping three years' worth of rainfall in single day
Cyclone Mekunu, the most powerful to ever hit the area, ripped apart buildings and blew down street lights with 105-111mph winds gusting up to 124mph.
Eleven inches of rain hit Salalah, Oman’s third-largest city, on Saturday turning dry creek beds into raging rivers, and flash flooding tore away whole roads and submerged others.
Thousands of the city's 200,000 residents lost power and water and communications services were wrecked throughout surrounding provinces.
Six people were killed in Oman including a 12-year-old girl and two other who lost control of their car in flood waters, with at least 30 missing.
