‘Dragon’s nest’ cloud appears in Japan

This is the phenomenal moment a lightning thundercloud appears in Tokyo sky, dazzling Japanese residents with this rare display.

Pictures show the incredible moment lightning streaked through the inside of a cloud shaped like an atomic bomb explosion, creating an amazing illuminated display.

The meteorological phenomenon, ominously shaped like a mushroom cloud, occurred in Japan, the only country to have seen an actual nuclear blast.

Japanese locals typically refer to this shape of cloud as a ‘Dragon’s nest’.

The pictures reveal the huge cumulonimbus cloud towering into the sky above the brooding cityscape with flashes of lightning ripplling through the vertical cloud.
