'Scary' SA weather could hit crops hard

With hot and dry weather showing little signs of abating, at least for now, South Africa may experience yet another tough growing season for farmers.
The South African Weather Service has predicted drier than normal conditions in the next three months, which is the optimal planting period for summer crops such as maize, sunflowers and soya beans.
The country is already in low gear after the drought early this year...
